Kerrang Tour Southampton Guildhall 2014

Limp Bizkit, Crossfaith & Nekrogoblikon

I was lucky enough to bag a press pass for this years Kerrang tour (kindness of SJM concerts and www.safeconcerts.com) featuring Limp Bizkit and friends.

And what a great gig it was and totally sold out. It's the first time I have photographed at Southampton's Guildhall and I love the set up they have there, mainly the low stage which lets you shoot a really good head on image. It turned out to be a bit nostalgic too as its where I had my graduation many moons ago ...sigh..

I love shooting metal bands as there's so much energy and sheer dedication to the performances the bands put in and tonight was no exception.

Sadly I missed Baby Godzilla but Nekrogoblikon were awesome. what's not to like? sheer power with a dancing goblin..Sorted!

They were followed by Crossfaith who were equally superb and brilliant to photograph and then Limp Bizkit who put on a blinder.

The lighting was a lot better than I expected and its great to have bands play up to the camera. Tonight we were spoilt.

loads of images from the night can be found here on the safeconcerts website http://www.safeconcerts.com/photos/artist-photos.asp

for now here's a few from the night

Rock on!

London Grammar 02 Academy 2014

Another packed out show at the 02

So after a late call from a fellow photographer friend I raced down to the 02 to catch London Grammar and do a bit of photo coverage for safeconcerts.com

I was slightly gutted that I missed the support acts and no confirmation of a photo pass leaving me to take a chance at the last minute. (these things happen so you take it on the chin) Luckily I got there in time to shoot LG.

A new one on me but we were informed that we could only shoot from one position in the pit and strictly no moving around. This of course means less variety in the shots and especially if the lights aren't  in your favour you're pretty screwed.

Of course this is all good practice and luckily the band put on a great show and all the local togs were pretty happy with their images.

Cheers

The 197502 Academy

Sold out show at the 02

So I headed down to the 02 on Friday to cover The 1975 for safeconcerts.com

The fans queued round the block in the rubbish weather to get to see one of the UK's up and coming bands.

First on was Wolf Alice who were pretty awesome followed by The Neighbourhood then The 1975.

All 3 bands put on a great show but from a Togs point of view the lighting was pretty dire, dark and back lit .... But saying that a challenge makes you a better photographer, plus I only had one lens for the show which makes it a bit harder but hey I bagged a few shots and saw some good acts.

for more info on the bands see the links below.

So here are a few shots from the other night, more images can be found at http://www.safeconcerts.com/photos/the-1975/bournemouth-international-centre-bic.asp

Another year done.

Another year on the horizon

So that's it, the shortest day has passed and another year is nearly over. was 2013 unlucky for some?
Hmm.. floods Earthquakes and strong winds may have given 2013 the feeling of impending doom but there have been a few positives on the horizon.

For a start we have had Amazing waves here in Dorset and water temp is currently peaking at 10 degrees so happy days here.

In all seriousness its been up and down. I think the common thought that 2013 was unlucky for couples to tie the knot has more than a ring of truth about it, although there are local wedding businesses that have claimed to have had a busy year.

We have however photographed some fabulous couples this year and made some great new friends. We have also started to photograph some great festivals and concerts which should get busier for the 2014 season.

so a big thank you to all of those who booked us and worked with us this year, we LOVE what we do and look forward to making new friends and clients.

fingers crossed to a productive 2014

Status Quo live and loud

Rockin all over Bournemouth

So Christmas is upon us and its the time of year when we get some great acts visiting our Dorset coast.

Today its the turn of the mighty Quo. I grew up listening to these guys, in fact Quo and Maiden are the reason I became a musician and been obsessed with music ever since.

I was sceptical at how these guys would pull it of live, just because they have been at it for so many years my initial thoughts were are they still up to the job..........And God damn it they were bloody awesome!!!!

with a sleek clean stage show and 100% high energy I question anyone who would think other wise.

From my point of view, having no monitors in front of the camera was amazing and also the fact that they let us shoot 4 songs instead of the standard 3 proves the Quo are just as professional now as they have ever been, top notch I say.
