Elinor & Alastair's Wedding

Rain...Bring it on

After spending the last week following the BBC weather channel we finally reside ourselves to the fact that today's wedding could be a damp one. This of course was no problem for Elinor & Alastair.

From the off it was clear that rain or shine this was going to be a great day.
I covered the girls while Dave met the guys at the church.

The morning went smoothly with Elinor being incredibly organised  (hiding her beautiful wedding dress away from prying eyes until the last minute)good skills.

The wedding ceremony was fabulous with both Elinor & Alistair looking amazing in their dapper gear.

The ceremony was followed with Dave and I photographing the couple on the Church's spiral staircase, (apparently never been done before) probably due to health & Safety .. but we were in the company of Alastair and his colleagues (Paras) and myself an ex firefighter so I was confident we had it covered.

Next we were off to the Hamble to photograph the couple by the quay and personally I think the rain helped as the couple looked awesome with the umbrella and Elinor in her super cool bridal wellies.

We arrived at the reception and the couple were greeted by the guests and  had a well deserved break. The speeches were great, full of humour and emotion. we were also treated to several embarrassing photos of Alastair's younger days,  (the soldiers outfit was a particular favourite).

The first dance was followed by more dancing and of course the evening buffet ( the bacon rolls were great).
It was a pleasure to photograph Elinor & Alastair and we both wish you well with your future.

Meanwhile here are a few shots of the day

Gary Barlow Tour 2014

Gary Barlow & Eliza Doolittle Bournemouth BIC.

I have always had a great respect for Gary Barlow, one of the most famous musicians in the world with oodles of hits yet still manages to remain a down to earth guy, so I was really looking forward to covering the last night of his "Since I saw you last" tour at Bournemouth BIC for www.safeconcerts.com

The tour had been a sell out and this gig was no exception. A full sell out with 3 rows of VIP seats covering where the pit usually is. So for today's gig its a soundboard shoot. For those who don't know what that means, basically you shoot from the mixing desk at the back of the venue. this is usually a bit of a pain but the lighting was that good that it wasn't a problem.

First up was Eliza Doolittle, entering the stage in a blue light and looking totally stunning. running through a great set of her popular songs and the crowd loving every bit of it. she was great to photograph and even though I was at the back of the room I managed to get a few nice images.

After a short interval Gary Barlow emerges from a lazer covered stage and bangs straight into Since I saw you last ... All I can say is WOW... What a show .. in fact I was totally speechless to how amazing he is live. note perfect and oozing confidence I now realise why this guy is so famous. hats off to him and 10 out of 10 for an awesome show.

Top man Mr Barlow I have been enlightened :)

Sarah & Andy Spring Pre Shoot at Sandbanks

A great afternoon at sandbanks

So after a few re scheduled dates due to the typical British weather, we finally got together with Sarah & Andy to have a nice walk by the beach and take a few shots in the sun.

Anyone who knows Sandbanks will agree that its one of the most beautiful places in the South and with the level of the dunes, the afternoon light can be spectacular.

After meeting up we walked through shell bay avoiding a triathlon that was underway on the beach.
Sarah & Andy were pretty chilled out about being photographed so being in the thick of it didn't phase them at all, which is great for us and makes for good pictures.

we spent a couple of hours walking through the sand dunes, photographing through the grass and using the natural light to advantage, then down to the edge of the water to bag a few wide shots.

Sarah & Andy were a great couple to photograph and we are looking forward to their wedding in August, from what they tell us about their friends I have a feeling we are going to get some great images ... and perhaps a hangover.

Here's a few shots from the afternoon

cheers

Bastille at Bournemouth BIC

Bastille, Angel Haze, Brother & Bones

So off to another packed out night at the BIC  to cover Bastille for safeconcerts.com

I turn up early (as usual)..I hate being late for anything. to pick my press pass up for the nights gig, there's a real  positive vibe in the air and a great audience of different age groups, in fact it looks sold out.

first up was Brother & Bones http://www.brotherandbones.com/ the guys voice is pretty damn awesome. normal house lights made it pretty hard to shoot but it was a case of following the spotlight and getting the shot, this of course is easier to say than do but I got through it pretty well.

next up was Angel Haze http://www.angelhazemusic.com/ another strong act who kept the crowd going, loads of energy but a bugger to photograph as she moves at lightning speed.

Both acts were a great warm up for Bastille who were up next http://www.bastillebastille.com/home/

Its the first time I have seen these guys and they didn't disappoint, really strong sound and pretty theatrical (which live music should be IMO). As from a photography point of view it was damn hard, anything below 1600 ISO and 1/250 second and you're screwed. the guy moves like an eel on speed Whoopa.. click and you miss him. so it was another learning curve for me, but hey life is all about learning and that's fine with me.

overall Bastille put on a great show and I'd recommend catching them on their current tour.

The full set of images from all 3 bands can be found here on the safeconcerts website http://www.safeconcerts.com/photos/artist-photos.asp

but for now here's a few quick edits

cheers
